1.5.0

In plain words

A user with a valid site account may be able to log in on a domain not assigned to them by using a method other than the standard login form. This applies to multi-domain sites using the Domain module where the Enable restriction setting is enabled.

Am I affected?

Look for drupal/domain_login_restrict and its version in composer.lock. The advisory lists 1.5.0 as fixed but gives no affected version range. Check whether your site uses the Domain module, has Enable restriction enabled on the Domain settings page, and allows login by methods other than the standard login form. Users with the Login to any domain permission are not subject to the restriction.

What to do

Check which version you have, then update to a fixed release for your branch (1.5.0):

composer show drupal/domain_login_restrict | grep versions
composer update drupal/domain_login_restrict

If your version constraint in composer.json keeps you below a fixed release, raise it first. Whether your configuration is affected, and the exact version ranges, are in the advisory itself.

If you cannot update yet

The advisory notes that exploitation requires a valid user account and the Enable restriction setting to be enabled. It gives no workaround.

The advisory's description

This module enables you to restrict user logins on a multi-domain site built with the Domain module, so that users can only log in on the domains assigned to them.

The module doesn't sufficiently enforce these restrictions when a user logs in by a method other than the standard login form.

This vulnerability is mitigated by the fact that an attacker must have a valid user account on the site, and the "Enable restriction" setting must be enabled on the Domain settings page. Users with the "Login to any domain" permission are not affected by the restriction.

The advisory

From OSV.dev, which gathers the GitHub Advisory Database, FriendsOfPHP and Drupal security advisories; the summary is theirs. The description is OSV's record of the advisory. "In plain words", "Am I affected?" and "If you cannot update yet" are based on that advisory, and checked to name no version it does not.
